I’m an award-winning editor, producer, journalist, consultant, and the former editorial director of Logo (Viacom). I was previously editor-in-chief of The Advocate, and the deputy editor at Out. My consulting clients include Amazon Studios, Universal Studios, GLAAD, and others.
At Logo, I transformed the NewNowNext blog into the best full-scale publication in the LGBTQ media industry by building a team of inspired journalists and accomplished editors. There I developed Logo’s first slate of social-specific news and entertainment content, including Logo Live, a full calendar of social media programming by content creators in a social-distancing environment. As an award-winning producer, I variously created, developed, and/or produced award-winning digital video content in news and comedy including the “LGBTQ State of the Union with Billy Porter,” “Logo30,” “The Marti Report,” “Madame Coco Knows,” “Logo at The Latex Ball,” “Black Box Sessions,” and “Logo Variety Hour,” among many other projects. My tenure included the largest expansion of Logo/NewNowNext’s social media footprint.
I’ve written numerous covers stories on culture, entertainment, and politics for Out and The Advocate, in addition to interviews and stories on travel and lifestyle topics.
I directed the transformation of The Advocate from a biweekly newsmagazine to a multimedia brand encompassing a robust news web site, mobile platform, tablet edition, and monthly print publication, and directed the largest expansion of Advocate.com. And while I was EIC, The Advocate won GLAAD Media Awards for Outstanding Magazine in 2011, 2012, and 2013. I oversaw a Washington, D.C., bureau launch, placing an Advocate reporter in White House Briefing Room, and launched online verticals on health, religion, elections, marriage, finance, and special print sections for academic studies, photojournalism, and investigative journalism.
Previously, as Editor Director of Here Media, I directed the editorial content of The Advocate/Advocate.com, SheWired, HIV PLUS magazine/HIVPlusMag.com, OutTraveler.com, and Gay.net.
